
Stop Fighting Your Glass Heater

If just a few lamps are putting out 5% less heat than the others, you’ve got cold spots. And cold spots are a nightmare. They create internal stress in the glass, and suddenly you’re dealing with breakage rates that make no sense.
Getting the Heat Right
The fix is actually pretty simple. You need lamps that actually do what they say on the box. Most standard lamps have a wide swing in wattage. One might be a bit hotter, the next a bit cooler. But high-consistency lamps are built to a much tighter window. Every single tube puts out the same amount of power per centimeter. The result? A flat thermal profile across the whole sheet of glass. No guessing. No surprises. We lean toward shortwave infrared for this. It punches through the glass surface fast. This means the glass spends less time in the heating zone, so you don’t end up cooking the edges while the center is still trying to catch up.
The Nitty-Gritty Stuff
On the hardware side, we use high-purity quartz. It stays clear and doesn’t warp under pressure. We also make sure the filament is dead-center so you don’t get those weird “hot spots” on the tube wall. Now, these will plug right into your current controllers, but keep an eye on your power supply. If you’re running high-wattage banks, you need heavy-gauge wiring. If your voltage drops by the time it hits the end of the line, those last few lamps are going to underperform—no matter how high-quality they are.
