No More Shivering in the Bathroom
We’ve all been there. You step out of the shower or start getting dressed in a cold bathroom, and suddenly you’re shivering. It’s the worst. Most heaters try to fix this by warming up the air, but that takes forever and wastes a ton of energy. We do things differently. We use shortwave infrared (IR) tech, which skips the air entirely and sends heat straight to your skin. It’s fast. Really fast. You feel the warmth in seconds, not minutes.
Why it actually works
Here is the secret: shortwave IR hits at a higher frequency, so the heat actually sinks in deeper. We use a tungsten filament tucked inside a high-purity quartz tube. The moment you flip the switch, it hits operating temperature almost instantly. No waiting for an oil radiator to warm up or listening to a loud fan blow lukewarm air around the room. It just works.
The nitty-gritty on the gear
To make sure these don’t burn out, we use halogen-filled tubes. This creates a little cycle that puts the tungsten back onto the filament as it evaporates, which keeps the heater alive much longer. But raw IR lamps can be blindingly bright. Nobody wants a spotlight in their face while they’re drying off. So, we add a special coating to the quartz. This does two things: it cuts down the glare and makes sure your body absorbs the heat more efficiently. And for the people actually installing these? We use R7s snap-in connectors. If a tube ever goes, you just pop it out and drop a new one in. Simple.
A few things to watch out for
These emitters put out a massive amount of heat, but you have to be smart about where you put them. Since the heat travels in a specific direction, you can’t just slap them anywhere. You’ve got to nail the mounting angle, or you’ll end up with “cold spots” where the heat just doesn’t reach. One more thing: these tubes gethot. Like, really hot. If you’re squeezing them into a tight ceiling space, make sure your housing is made of heat-resistant materials. You don’t want to find out the hard way that your plastic fixtures are melting.
